Broadway Store
In March 1988, we outgrew the Pemberton Avenue store and moved lock, stock & camel to 1537 West Broadway Avenue in Vancouver. It was still long and narrow; however, it was bigger and we even had a kitchen.
Our North Shore clients weren't terribly happy so we decided to start a mail order service for them (and others within BC).
By 1991 the Broadway store was sometimes too busy. So in November 1992, we opened a North Shore store on Marine Drive. It was small, but it had parking!
By 1996 Alex's Tilley product lines had increased to the point that there was no more room in the North Shore store, so we closed it when the lease expired. Were we to open a larger North Shore store or consolidate to new Granville premises? One store and a slightly simpler business life won out!
