Sir Edmund Hillary
In October 2000, it was our privilege to have Sir Edmund and Lady Hillary at the store - they were on a book signing tour to raise money for hospitals and schools in Nepal.It was an amazing event. 500 people were lined up around the block for a chance to meet the Conquerer of Everest. We sold a lot of books (all proceeds went to Sir Edmund's foundation) and later received notes from people telling us what a thrill it was to see him, even if they personally didn't get a chance to talk to him.
