Stella H, Silk Road,
"The camel trip was on a tour of the Silk Road, a wonderful vacation to Dunhuang where the Gobi desert is located. Our hotel, facing the Gobi, was built in a rectangle imitating houses built in the imperial days for the Imperial concubines.
It was still dark when we started out on the desert and cold. The camels were led two thirds of the way up the sand dunes and the rest you did by foot. It is hard to climb up to the top of the dunes, but once up it was amazing to see the vast desert and to watch the sun rise. It was an experience of a lifetime.
As soon as we got back the winds started and a sand storm started and it was not pleasant as sand gets in your mouth, eyes, camera etc.
It gives you a perspective as to how the traders in the old silk road slaved for years travelling through the silk road."
