Penny & Neil and Bill the inveterate traveller
"Neil and I were lucky to go with our friend Bill to the Mediterranean on the Oceania cruise line last June.

It was a fabulous trip! The ship is small as these behemouths go, the service was warm and helpful, and the food was superb.

We enjoyed all the places along the way, though we found the traffic of ships and thousands of people at Santorini a bit over the top, especially when we had to walk down the path on the cliff face because the lift line was two hours long.

Interestingly, we talked to a wine merchant with a lovely shop on the main street who said the cruise ship business is not good for the merchants as there are simply too many people, anxious about getting down the cliff to their boats on time for sailing. They mill around in long hot lines, not buying much but water He would like to see some constraints put on the ship traffic."
