Cam's good luck fishing hat stolen
"My favorite Tilley (I had 3!) kept me cool this March on our way from Rio to Petropolis, then Salvador & across the Atlantic to Cape Verde & Agadir, Morocco then Barcelona & Strasbourg, France.I had left it in our boat last month, anticipating some weather for pleasure cruising.
Last week a friend called to say he had found my fishing licence & VHF Operator's card on the dock. I always carry these in my Tilley crown compartment, with an emergency $10 bill, so, with apprehension, I hurried down to the marina.
The boat window had been forced open ... Carefully I climbed aboard, unlocked the door, expecting a mess, but all electronics, binoculars, tools and fishing gear were undisturbed.
THEN I saw the vacant spot where my beat-up dilapidated fishing Tilley and my good, entering-port Tilley always sat. There were GONE!...THE ONLY ITEMS MISSING! It would appear that the thieves had good taste in headwear.
Police were called, and took fingerprints for evidence, but my hats remain missing.
I'll go shopping for another Tilley, but the good luck fishing hat took years to develop its powers, and is irreplaceable."
