Alex in the Artic

Alex in the Artic
"On Beechey Island, we were extremely moved by the silent unforgiving land.  We could feel the ghosts of the failed Franklin Expedition.

There are three simple graves here to mark the spot.  We looked from those graves out over the sea and relived this dreadful ordeal.

After realizing after more than a year that the ice was not going to open and allow his ship to escape its grip, Franklin headed south on foot with, among other things, silver cutlery and a large writing desk.

In a Baffin Island village, we had a historical soccer match with the Innu residents.

Alex got a black eye from a ball whack, and we lost.

They wave their trophy in glee as Bill Lishman, Canadian Sculptor and "Father Goose" records it all for posterity.

Can't wait for the playoffs!!"
