Doug and Lady Marjorie

Doug and Lady Marjorie
"I was transiting The Canal on one of the "Dam" Ships (Veendam I believe) when a gust of wind blew my hat off and down it fell into the water.

All appeared to be lost when one of the row boats, used by employees to retrieve ship's lines, hove into view.

One of the two men in the boat retrieved my precious hat, attached a line to it and a "Dam" crew member hauled it onboard thus saving my head from further punishment in the tropical sun.

Needless to say there was a round of cheers the "heroic" act.

Thank heavens the Tilley hat is a floater"
