Tom's Hat saved in France
"This afternoon the phone rang, the woman identified she was with Tilley Head office in Toronto."Have you lost a hat?"
It was lost while touring the local castle at Collioure, France. A strong wind had lifted the hat and gently floated it up and over a high stone parapet, not to be seen again, in spite of careful searching and asking near everyone down at the seawall walk that skirted the castle walls.
A considerate French tourist found the hat, noticed it carried a name and telephone number, and mailed it to Tilleys in Toronto.
Tilleys will mail it tomorrow after replacing rusty grommets and giving it a cleanup.
Talk about good service, talk about the kind action of a French tourist.
Moral of the story: always write your name and telephone number in your Tilley Hat, as there is always a kind Frenchman who will do the unexpected. Just like we would do."
