Ian from Scotland in New Zealand
"Dear friends at Tilley,It is with great sadness that I have to report the loss of my old and dear friend, my Tilley hat.
Purchased in 1998 when we were off to the Serengeti and Ngorongoro, my faithful hat has travelled with me to USA, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and across Europe.
This year, while in Tuscany, my Tilley had the honour of being stamped with the official Mille Miglia stamp, while spectating the 350 classic cars at the Sienna checkpoint.
The demise came in November while enjoying the spectacular view from the Mirador del Santo, on the beautiful island of La Gomera, Canary Isles, when a sudden gust of wind sent it whirling into the barranca below, which has a drop of 5000 feet to sea level.
Should some kindly Gomeran or tourist walker ever come across my hat and get in touch, I would be overjoyed to be re-united with T for Tilley. In the meantime, my kindly wife has said that I shall be able to borrow hers from time to time.
I've enclosed a pic of me and Tilley fishing Lake Taupo, New Zealand. Didn't catch a rainbow, but the one that got away was a beaut! But that's another story.
Kindest regards,
Ian"
