Beryl Young's "Follow The Elephant"

Beryl Young's "Follow The Elephant""When I decided to write a book about 13 year Ben going with his grandmother on a trip to India to find her childhood pen pal, I decided I
had to have the grandmother appear in a Tilley hat and long skirt which greatly embarrasses Ben. Then I got carried away and had the couple meet a man in Varanasi wearing a Tilley vest and bragging about his underwear drying overnight. Of course Ben calls them Silly Tilleys.

The book was just released and I boldly took a copy to John Tilley in the Vancouver store. I was hoping he'd see the joke, and he did, and so did Barbara and Nikki.

I've worn my Tilley clothes to Mexico, Morocco and Sicily and on my three trips to India and discovered recently that my publisher's wife wears them too.

My book is called Follow the Elephant, and though it's written for children 10 and up, adults are enjoying it as an introduction to India.

I hope to have a book launch in the store and I guess I'll have to appear in my Tilleys.

Beryl Young"

Editor's note:

"Follow The Elephant" is available at the Vancouver book store, Once Upon A Huckleberry Bush.

We were honoued to be able to host the book launch event at the Tilley Vancouver store, a fine party attended by 80 or so good people.
