James and the perfect Hat
After three days on the Amtrak from Vancouver to Washington DC for a climate change conference, I spent every non-meeting and sleeping hour wandering the still-wintery Capital in Tilley style and warmth.
Dry points: I spent a few rainy days on the West Coast building a hanging, swaying, pirate-ship inspired tree fort for my 4-year-old nieces. Although soaked from neck to toe, my Tilley cap kept my noggin dry, warm and motivated.
Style points: An Amtrak employee was very impressed with the hat and more so when I filled him in on the integrity and quality that stands behind its fashionable looks. Every time I saw him for the next two days he would tap his head in maybe a 'nice hat' manner and knowingly say "Tilley".
Another Tilley related compliment came during a hike to scope out a proposed mining operation, from a fellow environmental activist, who remarked that I was the most dapperly dressed hiker she had ever seen.
