The photo is of me and my previous Tilley hat standing in front of the largest of the rock-hewn churches in Lalibella in northern Ethiopia.  I was there researching a book chapter on eucalyptus trees introduced to the nation in the 19th century by Emperor Menelik the Second.  Isn't that the greatest.

When I am on wildlife adventures, I need a hat that can protect me from the ravages of the tropical sun in Ethiopia, but also looks great in a first-class train compartment between Dresden and Prague.
